Expert Q&A
I will have my first ultrasound next week, and I will be 17 weeks and 5 days. The technician told me that she won't be able to tell the sex yet, that it is to early. Is that true?
Sex determination by ultrasound is dependent on several factors, and gestation (how old your baby is ) is only one of these factors. How experienced the technician is with sex determination will also influence how early he/she can tell if it's a boy or a girl. It may also be hospital policy that the technician is not allowed to give out that information.
