Expert Q&A
Question:
Should I be concerned that my doctor was not able to hear my baby's heartbeat with a doppler after 11 1/2 weeks?
Answer:
The fetal heartbeat is usually heard with the doppler at 10-12 weeks. There are times when the heartbeat may not be heard this early because of the fetal position or excess maternal fat. It's also possible that the due date may be miscalculated. Your doctor will be able to give you a better idea on how to proceed.
