I am unaware of any studies that have evaluated the effects of the chemicals used in nail salons on the fetus. I usually recommend to my patients that they consider foregoing acrylic nails during pregnancy if they are concerned about potential ill effects.

You may have more success than usual with natural nails since the hormones of pregnancy often increase the strength of the nail.
