Tai Chi, which evolved from Qigong, is another ideal activity for pregnant women, or anyone, for that matter. The embodiment of moving meditation, Tai Chi integrates the mind, body and spirit through deep breathing while moving through a series of exercises called "forms."
A typical Tai Chi class teaches you meditation and how to coordinate your breathing with each movement. You'll learn basic forms with pretty names like "Grasping the Bird's Tail" and "Crane Spreads Its Wings" and repeat these movements and others for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.
Like Qigong, doing Tai Chi correctly requires detailed knowledge of the exercises and breathing techniques so, again, working with an expert is the best way to get started.
