Kickboxing is just one option when it comes to martial arts. Other disciplines include Aikido, Tae Kwon Do and Jiu Jitsu, but pregnancy is not the time to take up any of these activities. These sports involve hand and foot fighting, falling and knocking opponents down, all of which can seriously injure you or the baby. If you've been actively involved in those sports, your doctor may give you the go ahead to continue, providing you modify your level of participation. However, it's a good idea to avoid any activity in which your belly becomes an unwitting target!
