Expert Q&A
Question:
I live in a country where we use metrics for measuring. How can I convert recipes I get from friends and on the Internet? There are a lot of great recipes I wish to try but I can never remember how the conversion works.
Answer:

Here is a conversion chart I was able to find. To me your system of metrics is confusing, so I sympathize with your plight. I hope these help.

1/4 teaspoon(tsp) = 1.25 milliliters

1/2 tsp = 2.5 milliliters

1 tsp = 5 milliliters

1 Tablespoon(Tbsp)= 15 milliliters

1 fluid ounce(oz) = 30 milliliters

1/4 cup = 60 milliliters

1/3 cup = 80 milliliters

1/2 cup = 120 milliliters

1 cup = 240 milliliters

1 pint(2 cups) = 480 milliliters

1 quart(4 cups) = 960 milliliters(.96 liter)

1 gallon = 3.84 liters

1 ounce(oz) = 28 grams

1/4 pound(lb) = 114 grams

1 pound = 454 grams

2.2 pounds = 1 kilogram
