Expert Q&A
I've been craving canned peas. I eat about one can a day. Could this be a problem?
Peas are a great source of vegetable protein and they're packed with fiber, something most pregnant women have difficulty getting enough of. And the salt content is lower than you might think, with roughly 360 milligrams of sodium in an 8.5-ounce can. Since sodium requirements actually increase slightly during pregnancy, there is definitely room for your can a day within the scope of a well-balanced diet that contains lots of fresh, whole foods.
