Thanks for the question. This is definitely the time of year for frozen pops -- and homemade treats can really save on the pocket book (plus it's nice to know exactly what you're feeding your kids).
Apple juice often has a weak flavor, and this might be why your popsicles are not turning out as you hoped. I would recommend trying a more concentrated mixture of apple juice for the next batch, or even use applesauce!
Here is a recipe for popsicles using Kool-Aid soft drink mix (or similar). I am also including a recipe for Fudgesicles. I hope you like these.
Cool Fruity Pops
1 package unsweetened Kool-Aid soft drink mix, any flavor
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
Combine ingredients in a pitcher. Stir well until sugar is dissolved. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze. Makes about 18 popsicles.
Fudge Pops
1 (4oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix
2 cups cold milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup canned evaporated milk
Combine pudding mix and milk in a large mixing bowl. Beat for 2 minutes. Stir in the sugar and canned milk, till well mixed. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze. Makes about 18 Fudgesicles.
You can try other flavors also such as vanilla and butterscotch, or make your own frozen yogurt. There are also a lot of other great flavors that you can try. Experiment!
