Expert Q&A
Question:
What additions can I add to my salad to make it healthier?
Answer:

Try adding your favorite vegetables, fruits, nuts and protein. Dried cranberries or dried blueberries provide a great antioxidant kick and go well with glazed walnuts or pecans. For some variety try adding some strawberries or watermelon. Also add in your favorite protein, like grilled chicken or even tofu. Pregnant women should stay away from deli meats, bean sprouts and soft cheeses such as blue, feta and goat cheese, which could cause a potentially serious foodborne illness.

Salads today can be as creative as you want them to be. So try new options to keep them fresh and different.

Here are some other suggestions – mix and match to fit your mood!
