Expert Q&A
This is my first pregnancy and I am 31 weeks. My stomach has already dropped a considerable amount. I was wondering if this is all right for your stomach to drop this soon? Or does this show a sign that I am farther along than I think?
When pregnant women use the term "dropped" it usually refers to the baby being low in the pelvis. This usually occurs around the 37th week in first pregnancies but the baby may not "drop" in first or subsequent pregnancies until labor starts. When your nurse-midwife or physician examines you, ask them if the baby feels low.
