Expert Q&A
Is frequent masturbation harmful during pregnancy?
Unfortunately, there is really not a lot of data on the effects of orgasm on pregnancy in regards to frequency. Orgasm does cause uterine contractions and is therefore not advised for women at high risk or current risk of preterm labor. Otherwise, intercourse or masturbation which leads to orgasm is generally felt to be safe throughout pregnancy. If you do not masturbate to orgasm, you can do it as often as you like. If you masturbate to orgasm and experience very intense uterine contractions or tightness, it would probably be best to reduce the frequency."
