The Katie Beckett Waiver is also known as the Deeming Waiver or the 2176 Model Waiver. "This waiver is part of the Medicaid program, and it relaxes the financial eligibility criteria for Medicaid to provide medical services for a child with a chronic disability while helping the family provide care for their child at home," says Carmen Petote Certified Financial Planner Allegiance Financial Advisors, Inc. "Medicaid is national in scope, but administered by each state, and therefore, the provisions vary widely. One thing is constant: it is for children from birth to age 18 who would be eligible for Social Security Income due to some serious medical condition, but whose parents make too much to meet the income requirements."
